Gothic Bridal - the Black Wedding Dress?

Gothic Wedding Gowns and Corset DressesGothic bridal gowns have a tendency toward the Hammer House of Horror costume department, so it's nice to see some designers tackling the problem head on. Challenge the stereotypes and make sure that your black wedding dress (or purple, or for what it's worth, why not even a white one?) makes you look like the independent and stylish goth you are, rather than a comic book character.

Angels Carrying Savage Weapons have long been our favourite designers and now they've branched out. For those goths who still believe in romance, now you can take a peak at their Bespoke Bridal Corsetry website.

Whether you're looking for an alternative wedding dress, or the perfect vintage corset, ACSW are the guys to go to.

Designer goth has always been a hit and miss affair, with so many cliches around, so unless you want to look like you've got the dressing up box out, it's worth doing things right on your big day.

Goth Underwear and Corsetry

There's been a real retro movement in goth lingerie recently, with 1940's looks inspiring girls to raid the shops their grannies used to frequent and shock the elderly assistants by requesting everything in black!

With cuban heeled stockings from What Katie Did, girdles from Kiss Me Deadly and corsets from Angelic Weapons and you're sorted.

So don't get stuck with the problem of having the perfect outfit without the basics to keep your confidence high.

Gothic Corsets and Lingerie

Goths love their frillies, or undoing them, or at least taking a knife to the lacing....! So we've added a new category to the blog for Gothic Corsets and Lingerie.

I suspect that no-one will mind seeing scantily clad goths of both genders in this section, so if you know of a good gothic underwear shop, designer or article, please let us know so that we can add it and more pictures!

Goth girls and their Bras!

Despite the media concentration on goth girls being stick thin and looking like they need feeding, the reality is that most of the goth ladies I have ever met tend to be a little fuller!

The Seamstress has just asked me to tell people that they need to take care of their assets (!) as she's tired of gorgeous women wearing badly fitting bras which not only do nothing for their figure, but they also wreck the cut of the clothing she makes. (as well as potentially wrecking your body with constant damage to muscles, causing bad posture and generally just being painful.

So she wanted to put a shout out for one of the specialist bra fitting shops in York that she has used for years. She travels half-way across the country in order to see Kathryn and every time she does she is not disappointed. You will leave with a bra (or bras) that fit, or with none at all and the instruction to return a week or two later when either your body has settled (depending on the day) or when Kathryn has ordered in a selection of bras which she knows will suit your shape better.

So girls - hold yourself a little better - get your bras fitted.

Corpgoth Clothing

While The Seamstress has probably never heard of it, Corpgoth Clothing is what she does, combining the best of corporate and business tailoring with the unique and individual styles of gothic, punk and fetishwear.

Strappy dresses subtle enough to wear to a business meeting, while being sharp enough to ensure that no minion dares to upstage you in front of the boss. Tailored coats and shirts which can express a beautiful darkness and depth, while only raising the slightest of eyebrows among your colleagues!

We've showcased some of the most interesting Corpgoth Designers and Shops on the blog, and we are always looking for more to add, so if you have any suggestions, let me know.

So yes, you can now be corporate and goth, try it.

Goth Furniture - Mark Brazier Jones

Now there's not that many people who take furniture seriously in the goth world, but as one of my many fetishes, I feel I can happily comment on this field.

Most companies either pander to the norm, or make camped-up rubbish that no self-respecting furniture fetishist would touch with a bargepole. However, after doing a little research on Corporate Goth Shoes, I found Mark Brazier-Jones website (he designed some shoes in conjunction with Jeffrey West, which are really rather nice).

His furniture is uniquely individual, non-conformist and fantasist in the best sense!

Gothic Tailoring from The Seamstress

Well, we finally did it. I convinced The Seamstress that her Corpgoth Clothing & Gothic Tailoring needed a website. So she's got one!

At the moment, she's far too busy to get the shop sorted (custom couture takes far too much time), so in the meantime I am using it to showcase some of the people I know she appreciates.

There's articles being added every day on Corpgoth Clothing, Mens Gothic, Womens Gothic, Cult Designers and our favourite shops.
Have a look and let me know what you think:
